Bab ini berfokus pada faktor-faktor utama pendorong perdagangan kera hidup yang disajikan dalam empat bagian utama.

Bagian pertama meninjau permintaan akan kera dari kebun binatang dan taman safari di Tiongkok yang pertumbuhan ekonominya dikuti oleh peningkatan koleksi zoologisnya. Melalui kerja sama dengan asosiasi kebun binatang internasional untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan kera yang ditangkap di alam liar, kebun binatang di Tiongkok dapat mengurangi tingkat kematian keranya sekaligus permintaan akan kera.

Bagian keempat menganalisis peran media sosial sebagai faktor pemungkin perdagangan ilegal kera hidup, menelaah berbagai cara platform online memengaruhi permintaan, khususnya melalui pemberian nilai penting untuk kepemilikan kera, penyediaan akses pasar, dan pelibatan khalayak baru. Bab ini juga membahas cara lembaga swadaya masyarakat bekerja sama dengan perusahaan media sosial untuk membatasi perdagangan satwa liar, termasuk dengan cara mengedukasi pengguna media sosial, memantau gambar yang memuat satwa liar, dan memblokir kiriman gambar/video yang terlihat menawarkan penjualan spesies dilindungi. Bagian ini diakhiri dengan usulan berbagai cara alternatif dan tambahan untuk melibatkan perusahaan dan konsumen serta pendekatan lebih luas untuk mengurangi permintaan secara keseluruhan.
